The High Court retains inherent jurisdiction under Section 482 CrPC to quash complaints filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. Furthermore, the Supreme Court can invoke its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution of India to quash DV Act proceedings against relatives where the underlying criminal proceedings on identical facts stand quashed.
